We had a great Monday! (Though the energy of spring is noticeable in class!)
Please finish as much of the math booklet as possible so that we can move on from Geometry.
Anyone who has not yet handing in the registration for next year, please get them in immediately.
Get outside and enjoy the sunshine!

We've been busy as usual working on a variety of things. In social studies we are learning about the voyageurs and the fur trade in Canada. Our class will be writing the story of a voyageur's trip and then using that story to create a movie with Animoto. We are in the research phase and some great resources include the book I've attached and some links below.
In math we are still working on geometry and I encourage the class to do mathletics exercises and practice at home. Students should know the terms parallel, vertical, horizontal, perpendicular, diagonal, and intersecting, and also the names of any shape you throw at them.
In science we are wrapping up our electricity unit and in LA, we've made some awesome Word Ladders this week for vocabulary practice. We are doing a novel study and students are expected to write a response to each chapter, so they should be catching up at home on their google doc if they've fallen behind.
Many students are working on Duolingo to practice their French and even their German and Spanish. There is an iphone/ipad app available to make practicing languages even easier. Keep it up!

Things we need to work on at home through Google docs:
Reading response questions for chapters 1 and 2: We are doing a novel study of a book called: From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.
Letter from New France: Students are writing a letter from the perspective of a colonist in New France in the late 1600s. They should include:
1. What is the date?
2. Who are you?
3. What do you do?
4. Where do you live? (where did
you leave from?)
5. Where will you go?
6. What has life been like for you
there? (Why are you leaving your home?)
7. What is a fille
du roi?
8. What will life be like for you
there and what challenges will you face?
Reads
naturally (sounds like a real letter)
Paints
a picture (describes very well)
