Math: pg. 33 1-12 and pg 47 1-12.

The comment from parents always comes up...students say that they have no homework. Here's the real deal:

1. We have Daily Paragraph Editing for homework each day except Friday. If they get it done in class, that's fine but they should be finished up to week 4 Wednesday.
2. Daily Language Review is done every day in class but sometimes they fall behind. They should be finished Wednesday of week 8.
3. Spelling. All the spelling words are online at www.spellingcity.com. They can work from home, then simply upload the saved report to their folder. They should ALL know how to save a report. Follow the link on the right that says "access school files from home" and have them log in using their regular school log in. Then upload the files you've saved at home. Just make sure you put them in the right folder. We are up to list 10 as of today.
4. Speaking of spelling. We are still unable to spell all the provinces and capitals correctly. I will test this once again on Monday.
5. Math: They won't have much homework if they work quickly in class but I expect them to practice if they are shaky on a concept. If you look on the wiki, there are several pages on multiplying and dividing numbers by 10, 100, 1000, 10000. Please do some of these questions with your child to make sure they understand and can do this fluently. This was a problematic concept for many.
6. Speaking of math...our averages for basic facts are still quite low. They should be practicing this daily for 10-15 minutes. One thing you can do to make a student more successful in math for their school career is making sure their basic facts are automatic.

Thanks for checking the blog. Please email me with any questions or concerns and I will usually respond that day.
Mr. M
